Yes, the next Providence Geeks dinner is less than a week away:

Wednesday, May 17, 2006, 5:30pm – 8pm+

115 Empire Street, Providence, RI

This dinner will feature a short demo and Q&A session with brand-new Providence start-up, Tizra (details to come shortly in another post).

Please RSVP using the comments on this blog entry so we can give the good folks at AS220 an estimated headcount. And while you’re at it, subscribe to our NEW feeds and/or join the mailing list (for the mailing list, send an email to Jack Templin at jtemplin at Gmail with your name and affiliation).

As always, for first-timers here are the details on the geek dinners:

  • It’s totally casual. Wear whatever, bring whoever, arrive and vamoose whenever…

  • Topics of conversation will vary as they will at any gathering of geeks, but many of us will be talking about AJAX, mash-ups, start-ups, new devices, business models, interaction design, digital art, and web services.

  • Food and beverages are for sale at the adjoining Taqueria Pacifica and bar.

  • There is WiFi so bring your connected device of choice.

  • We have AS220’s performance space from 5:30pm to approximately 7pm. After that the geekery moves to AS220’s adjoining cafe.

P.S. Sorry for the relatively short notice on this dinner. We wanted to time its announcement with the new site, and well, you all know how that goes…

    I’m planning to come again.

Is the “mini demo” from the last meeting by Kipp Bradford and Brian Jepson going up? The daughter and I might want to try it.

Sorry about the delay in getting the demo information out. Kipp is working on a new design for the gadget (the one we showed off is an earlier design). To hold you all over while you wait, I’ve posted the presentation here:

    Franklin (Unsui?),

Take the Attleboro-Stoughton line South and get off at the last stop, in Providence (check the schedule, not all trains go all the way). The train station is at 100 Gaspee Street, Providence, RI; AS220 is at 115 Empire Street, Providence, RI; and WP doesn’t like Googlemap URLs.

If you’re in Boston, you can pick it up at South Station (red) or Back Bay (orange). If you’re outside the city try Rt. 128 Station.

Brian: Sorry, WP and me ate your comment.

Brendan, Thanks for your RSVP! The dinner part is very informal, and doesn’t happen at any particular time. You will see folks ordering from the Taqueria throughout the evening, since it’s cafeteria style (order at the counter, pick up shortly thereafter).

Bibi, thanks so much for the heads up about BarCamp Boston. I didn’t know about that, but I see it’s coming up soon (http://barcamp.org/BarCampBoston)
